Quotes from THE SHACK

THE SHACK
written by William P. Young
(the use of "I" and "My" in the following quotes refer to God/the holy trinity)

"Your choices are also not stronger than my purposes, and I will use every choice you make for the ultimate good and the most loving outcome." (pg 125)

"If you knew I was good and that everything...is all covered in my goodness, then while you might not always understand what I am doing, you would trust me." (pg 126)

CHPT 8 Quote, Author Unknown
"Growth means change and change involves risk, stepping from the known to the unknown."

"When I dwell in you, I do so in the present--I live in the present...I do not dwell in the future you visualize or imagine....your imagination of the future, which is almost always dictated by fear of some kind, rarely, if ever, pictures me there with you." (Emma's favorite; pg 141-142)

I just finished reading this. The most impactful page for me...pg. 141-142: "When I dwell in you, I do so in the present--I live in the present...I do not dwell in the future you visualize or imagine....your imagination of the future, which is almost always dictated by fear of some kind, rarely, if ever, pictures me there with you."

Wow, yes, that is powerful! Thank you for sharing that! I thought THE SHACK was a great story. It certainly challenges how you perceive the world and God. Our perceptions are based on our own experiences and what we've been taught. They are not always reality.

I hope others will share their favorite quotes from the book, too.

I love the part at the end of the book when Mack is in the hospital and Willie comes to visit. Willie asks Mack if he met God at the shack. Mack says he did and also says that God had a message for Willie. Mack says, "He told me to tell you that He is especially fond of you." I needed the tissues for that one. It is rather mind boggling that God has relationships with so many people, yet in some way He is "especially fond" of each one. I love that I can't totally wrap my mind around it...it is something that is only possible with God.

His love is amazing! Can you imagine being "especially fond" of everyone you know? Only God can love each of us the same way, no matter who or where we are in our journey or what we're doing or what we've done. I love that God is unconditional and unfailing in His love for us!
